Dr. Taq Kaur Bhandal

is the author of Self-Care Down There (Simon & Schuster), teacher in The Upgrade course (through imwithperiods.thinkific.com), and a lover of romantic comedies.

In 2018, Taq started @imwithperiods as CEO while working as a faculty member at the University of British Columbia where she taught on the topics of anti-racism, decolonization, intersectionality, mental health, trauma, and addictions. The @imwithperiods Instagram and business became an avenue for being able to speak and teach women how to track their periods and cycles and sync Life in a way that allows us to feel healthy, wealthy, and happy. In 2023, I’m With Periods launched the Hopefulness Research Institute charged with leading the company’s presence in advancing consent+culture in North American film, television, and music industries. This follows an almost 2-year term as Partner at BIPOC Executive Search, part of the WeShall Investments Group, where Taq helped place superstar candidates racialized as Indigenous and/or People of Colour in senior leadership positions at major Canadian universities, private financial institutions, Bay Street and Wall Street firms, and several non-profit organizations. Prior to joining the executive world, Taq worked in academia as a researcher and faculty member for 12+ years at The University of British Columbia and Dalhousie University.

Along with guiding I’m With Periods creative and scholarly vision, Taq promotes work+life balance and positive mental health in the media as a regular guest expert for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, The Coast, The Georgia Straight, and many more.

Taq was born and raised outside of Vancouver, Canada on Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, and Squamish First Nations territory. Her parents and ancestors are from the Punjab regions of India and Pakistan. She currently spends her time in Halifax, Canada (shout out to the Halifax Stanfield Airport!), and various cities and countries globally.
